McCann Center Gym

Hey everyone! My blog is going to be talking about some of the gyms that we have to offer here at Marist College. The first gym that I'm going to be talking about today is by far the most popular and well-known gym at Marist College, the McCann Center.

Many people do not realize that the McCann Center was completed just recently in the Fall of 2019. Most just know the McCann Center as the place where the basketball home games are played and while that is true, there is so much more that it has to offer.

The first thing I'm going to talk about is the physical gym. The McCann Center provides students and student-athletes with state-of-the-art fitness and training equipment such as three racks of free weights ranging from 5 pounds to 100 pounds, over a dozen power racks, more than 30 treadmills, and most recently two peloton bikes.

While I just showed you what the student gym looked like, the McCann Center also has an Athlete only gym which is extremely helpful for the many athletic teams to have efficient team workouts together. During my freshman year, I was on the Rowing team here and I remember how nice it was to have a separate gym where I could work out alone or with my teammates without having to worry about waiting for equipment.

Another thing that the McCann Center has to offer its students is a full-size indoor track around its basketball courts which is perfect if you prefer to run somewhere other than a treadmill.

This gym is my favorite as it is the biggest and has the most equipment. I recommend this gym to most people who are beginning to get into working out as it has so many different machines to cater to each part of the body you're looking to train. While it can be a far walk for some people like me (15 min walk from FOY Townhouses), it's definitely the best option for on-campus gyms because it has so many different things to offer.
